Amazon Echo Discussion / Show 15 - Photo order
« Last post by JigSaw on October 18, 2023, 10:23:12 pm »
I have searched a bit and a lot of old posts out there, this site at least has some activity which is great, but I didn’t see a solid answer so figured this would be the best bet!

So I have my shiny new show 15, and have taken the past 2 weeks to organize a lot of our photos into a “show” album of 1700 or so photos.  I have removed the pop ups like news, etc. so it’s a nice family photo album.  I have changed the sleep time, speed down to 6 seconds and those all get respected, however the way they display the photos is a bit odd.  I want to randomize the photos spanning the years, but it’s always starting with a specific photo, then the same second, third, etc.  There not in any specific date order that I can tell (unless there was some metadata issue), however with 1700 photos, I keep seeing the same 1, then 2, etc.

Is there a simple “random” toggle or way to have this just show random photos.  At this rate with it shutting off at night, you will never get to the others!

Thanks all for any help

I don't see anything that would suggest that on the IFTTT website....

Starting to see comments about users of ifttt getting notified that their ifttt/alexa routines will quit working on October 31.   Anyone here getting them?

YONOMI gave up about a month ago as well... just not needed anymore. Obsolescence happens. Yonomi was way out front, but barely a thing anyway. but it helped me get started with Smart home stuff way back with an Echo original full size unit... Ifttt was a bit more complex, and YONOMI made it where I didn't have to work at it so hard.

Anyone have a similar setup to mine?

Aren't you in front of your Echo Dot and Denon receiver? How could you not know where the sound is coming from?
57
Yeah, I’ve done all that. What I need is guidance from someone who has hands on experience and insight on this exact issue.
58
So the responses are coming from the receiver / speaker and not the Echo Dot speaker? What’s causing the responses to be in such low volume while the volume of the music being played is normal? What can I do to rectify this?

it is going to take a combination of settings to get it right.  The echo volume control on the device and in the app will still affect the sound coming through the third party receiver in addition to the volume control on the receiver.

Are you saying that the voice commands response volume should be the same as the volume at which the music plays? I have contacted Denon support, they don’t seem to know much about this type of Alexa functionality.

Maybe your WiFi router has some sort of sleep mode. It might go into low power and disconnect from devices that have not been used in a while. Seems a bit far fetched to me too, but I can't think of anything else.

Most of my smart switches & light bulbs are made by Feit Electric. If Alexa fails for some reason, I can still use the Feit app to turn things on or off. I also have a couple of old Wemo smart switches that I'm too lazy to replace due to a number of my custom routines and programs that still use them.
Yeah, I'm certain it's not my wifi. If my wifi stops even for 30 seconds I get alerts from those things that cannot connect to the internet, plus I also have a ping monitor setup to alert me if something inside my network can no longer be pinged.
