My Echo Dot did an automatic software update yesterday.
The problem is, it did it in the middle of the night and woke us up.
Is there a way to prevent it from doing that?

How do you know it was an auto software update? Maybe it just blerted out some nonsense, as this can happen on rare occasions.

unplug it before you go to bed.

Unfortunately, this doesn't work if you're relying on it to wake you up in the morning.
(It will be interesting to see if it gets the time change right tomorrow morning. I'm betting it will indeed wake me up at the appointed hour in DST.)

Let us know, especially if it doesn't - we don't come out of our caves for another two weeks :)

Just be sure you have correct country (US) and your time zone set correctly in devce Settings.

The OP did not state he was using it as an alarm.
DOT gave me the correct time this morning. I'm in the US if that helps.

what exactly did it do that made you think there was an update?

Speaking of updates, could someone please repost the website that lists Echo Dot updates and details?
Thanks
