Title: Entering the Echo
Post by: FamiliarStench on November 21, 2018, 01:42:44 pm
Does Alexa absolutely need a smartphone, tablet, or computer to operate? I'm interested in home automation. However, from what I've been reading. Alexa requires some form of stationary computer device to run commands and tasks while you're away.

all you really need it a wifirouter but if you don't have the other devices you mentioned, it would be hard to setup and make changes as needed.

I don't think there is any AI devices you can install stand-alone. They will always need at the very least, a PC to make it run as it should be. Having said that I don't get why you would rather carry your echo device instead of just a smartphone to control your home remotely.
