Title: alexa app routine
Post by: culvdavi on December 18, 2023, 12:34:27 pm
I have a scene with a motion sensor that will turn on a light when triggered. I only want the scene enabled at night time and disabled during the day. can a routine accomplish this?

Short answer: yes

Long answer:

Routine:

When (sensor) detects motion
Every Day (or selected days of week)
2030-0700 (or your selected times)

(scene) on

Then you may wish to set up a second routine to turn things off again unless you use a "Wail" command in the first routine to turn things off again.  I find this gives me more flexability

When (sensor) does not detect motion for 5 (user selectable) minutes
Every Day (or other - see above)
2030-0700

(scene) off

I have a routine when I say goodnight it turns off all interior lights. I added to the routine to wait 10 minutes then turn on motion sensor scene. Then I made another routine to turn off scene at sunrise but scene stays enabled all the time.
