Title: Amazon firestick
Post by: mrgrimsby on November 20, 2017, 01:25:42 pm
Hi, I'm trying to control my Amazon TV firestick via eco dot alexa but cannot link them together, they are both on same wifi network, instructions on Amazon sites say launch amazon alexa app and go to music,  video,  books but I only have music, books? Really strange. I've uninstalled reinstalled the app but still only music, books. No video? I'm baffled.
Any help appreciated, thank you.

You need a current model FS, with voice remote, older models will not work with Alexa.

I have a first gen FS, linked fine with my echo.

If you have a remote with a mic, it is a second gen FS; first gen does not have the mic.

Anyway, I really don't see any value added by linking echo and FS, since limited operations are not very useful.  I just pick up the FS remote.
