Title: Samsung smarthings motion sensor and alexa
Post by: Automated aidy on December 31, 2017, 08:19:08 am
Hi, I'm kinda new to this home automation thing so I apologise if this is a stupid question.. I'm looking to install a motion sensor in my hall so when I come home alexa turns on my hall light and living room gadgets, I saw the smarthings sensor and was wondering if it would be possible to use it without the smarthings hub? If not do you guys have any suggestions? I'm trying to do this on a budget as low as poss.

You don't need Alexa to do that. Just about any home automation system that has a motion sensor product can do that. This includes SmartThings, Wemo, D-Link, Philips, and many more. Devices that require a hub (e.g. SmartThings), well, requires a hub. No hub = no magic. Wemo devices, on the other hand, do not require a hub.
