Amazon Drone to make package deliveries within 30 minutes
« on: June 15, 2015, 07:20:15 pm »
This is probably old news, but perhaps some people haven't heard about it.

Amazon is testing a new way to deliver packages, weighing up to 5 lbs, by unmanned drones! These octocopters will deliver your package from an Amazon warehouse to your front door in less than 30 minutes.
They call it "Amazon Prime Air"
I believe they are currently testing it in Nevada.

See this Youtube video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=98BIu9dpwHU

That's some cool freakin tech!

And this is even more amazing!

They better have opened a ton more fulfillment centers.
Good Morning, America tried this and it barely made it within the 30 minutes. But, Amazon had a facility close to them. I'm sure it's going to be offered on a limited basis.
Seriously though-isn't 2 day shipping fast enough? The payment won't even come out of my account before the item arrives at my door!!   :o

Good morning America did at drone delivery test?
Didn't hear about that one.

Are you sure you aren't thinking of the test they did for the Prime Now service? Which can get stuff there in 1hr. (Currently in a small handful of cities)

You are correct. It was the Prime Now. But my inital query still stands-even more so. I don't know if I want 'all that' in my airspace...  >:(
