Unable to setup an old echo dot (2nd Gen)
« on: October 27, 2021, 03:06:41 am »
Hi All,

I'm very new here and coming to you people for help. I have a second generation old echo dot, which was disconnected for the better part of last year. Now, when I tried to set it up newly again, I'm unable to get connected to it automatically. It says that local area network connection is not given. I am in iOS, and when I try and check the Alexa app settings, I do not find an entry for local area network. Neither does the app request this permission while being re-installed.

Even in manual mode I am unable to set up because the Amazon - XXX Wi-Fi does not simply come up. Note that everything else goes fine, only there's no Amazon Wi-Fi when searched.

Any help is greatly appreciated. Thank you all in advance.

If your Dot 2nd gen is in setup mode, it should be blinking an orange light. If it is not doing this, then you cannot set it up and there will be no amazon - XXX WiFi.

To reset your Dot 2nd gen so that it goes into setup mode, press the Mic button and the volume down button at the same time and hold for at least 10 seconds.
