Setting up echo for older person
« on: November 08, 2017, 05:59:21 pm »
I have bought an Echo for my mother and set it up with my phone as she doesn't have one. But when family drop in it results in a call to my phone instead. Any ideas how to avoid this? She can call them just fine.
Thanks, Phil

I would suggest buying her a cheap phone and the cheapest sim card you can find and set her account up on that.

You can still log into her account from your phone.

You don't necessarily need to have to pay for cell service or a sim card. Any recent model smartphone with WiFi (i.e. any cheap Android phone) can be used to set up a new Echo device. Some tablets will work too, although I've seen certain features are not available in the tablet version of the Alexa app.

The important thing is the Echo device should be set up using your mum's own Amazon account. That way, anyone who wants to contact her via drop-in will be connect to her and not you.
