I apologize if this is the wrong place for this question or if this has been asked before. What I'm trying to find out is:
Q. If I want to use Alexa smart bulbs in lights that turn on with a light switch, do I need to simply leave the switch set to on, pair the bulbs with my Echo Dot and then command Alexa when to turn them on and off?

Thanks for info!

the light switches must always be on for the smart bulbs to work.  as far as setting them up, depends on the bulbs but it should be simple enough.

I have many smart light bulbs. I installed these light switch covers so that they are not accidentally turned off. These covers are open on one side so you can still manually flip the switch if needed. They screw on to your existing cover plate. A pair of them is about $2 bucks.

These are the ones I got from Home Depot.

you can also get magnetic ones that attaches to the screws.
