Two Homes On One Account
« on: January 26, 2020, 07:05:44 pm »
We have a primary residence and a vacation home we rent out 8 months of the year. How do I set each up on its on account both for privacy and to avoid verbose commands like "Alexa, turn on vacation home master bedroom bedside lamps"?

I wouldn't put one in a rental property but if the house sits empty, what would be an issue? I had one in our motorhome on the same account as home. Worked fine but the changing WiFi's were a pain when traveling.

I would not want my account left logged in at a rental property for strangers to use.

Assuming the primary goal is voice commands not keeping my place in Audible or my shopping list while I'm at the vacation home, I'd make a separate Amazon account and assign all the vacation Echoes to it.

That way commands like "Turn on the living room light" will make sense in their context, being at the main house or vacation house.

And guests won't find some loophole to spending my money or jacking the settings of my personal account.
