Anyone get an invitation to buy the Echo Frame or Echo Loop yet? I requested an invite, but nothing came through yet.

I did pre-order the Echo Buds and they should be delivered on Wednesday, Oct 30th. Anyone else getting one too?

I don't think I'd be tempted to buy any of these but turn the loop into a Star Trek badge and I might  ;D

I will pass on the Echo Loop because that thing looks ugly.

A Star Trek badge would be cool! According to Amazon's demo video, the Loop has to be held up to the user's ear in order to hear it. This is probably because the tiny battery inside can conserve energy by not having to amplify the tiny speaker inside.  A badge cannot be held to a person's ear. So unless they can make advances in battery technology, a badge would be impractical. If they had both, I'd definitely pick the badge. But for now, I'm looking forward to the Echo Buds. I hope the pair aren't locked to each other so that I can use one with my Amazon acct and my GF can use the other.

BTW, I went to my local Costco yesterday and the optometry department told me that they can make prescription lenses with most frames. It would just cost whatever normal lenses cost + an additional $25 for the fit. If I get an invite for the Echo Frame, I'd buy it right away!

That's the problem we might find in the UK.  Most opticians will only provide lenses for frames that THEY sell.

At first I assumed that every optometry store sold only frames and lenses together. It seemed absurd that anyone would make lenses to fit my own frames. But then I started to search on Google and a large number of optical websites can do it. You just mail in your frames to them. Then I read some discussion forums (reddit and others) and discovered that many optometry stores can do it. The fact is that they don't do it themselves. They all use a lab somewhere else, even for frames that they sell. And these labs will make the lenses with the frames that the optometrists specify. It's not as rare as I thought it was. But there are some salespeople at stores that might not know that they can do this and they would just say no when they really don't know.

I am just taking mine to walmart  :-)  I have known people who bought the cheap reading glasses for the frames and get lenses for them.  However I am willing to bet the price of the lenses makes up for it  :-)

I had my eyes lazered several years ago but I have to say if I still needed specs I might give them a go. Only at home mind, I'd feel a bit of a goon in public.

They come with clear lenses so you can use them even if you don't wear prescription glasses.
