No, the Fire Stick remotes do not work with the Echo devices.  If you go to the Woot website though and look under electronics, portable devices, they are selling the Echo remotes for about $9 I think.

Amazon used to include a remote with the Echo 1st gen. Since then, the remote is no longer included. They were in such short supply back then that people were selling them for up to $100 each on Ebay. Now you can buy them for $20 on Amazon --> https://www.amazon.com/Alexa-Voice-Remote-Amazon-Echo/dp/B01E9AHU8Q/

As Thomastoo pointed out, you can get it (used) on Woot for $9. Woot is owned by Amazon and primarily sells refurbished, discontinued, or limited production items.
Here it is on Woot --> https://electronics.woot.com/offers/alexa-voice-remote-for-amazon-echo

Several on eBay UK, with shipping from China. Of course they may be knockoffs!

I don't use a remote control for my dot. I just added more dots. I have 7. The only thing I could ever see remotely controlling on a dot is music. You can tell one dot to play music on another or a group of dots. You can even tell one dot to change the volume of another. What else would you need to control on a dot that wasn't in voice range?
