3rd gen echo dot... device not registered

Hi there
New to this tech and forum... scottish chap livin in northampton. metal detectorist, geek ex punk etc etc...
We have 2 3rd gen dots both registered and activated. though we bought 3, the 3rd one at activation point in alexa app just states this device is not registered, though all 3 were bought from amazon together im presuming this one is possibly a return registered to soemone else.. is there a ay of resetting its registration. ive tried attachin it to the Amazon wireless that it pops up but that gives no internet access.
Anyone any ideas.......

If it is saying it is not registered it may simply be that it was either ordered from Amazon with the gift option selected, which means it doesn't automatically get registered to the Amazon account it was ordered from or it was not bought from Amazon. In that case try the following:

  • Open the Alexa app.
  • Go to the Devices option (far right button and the bottom of the app).
  • Tap the plus button at the top right.
  • Select "Add Device"
  • Select "Amazon Echo"
  • Select the type of Echo you want to set up.
  • Follow the on-screen instructions from there.
