Harmony Hub and Alexa
« on: September 05, 2018, 09:29:37 pm »
I have a Logitech Harmony Hub that I use to control my TV system. I can turn the system on and off using Alexa but can't figure out how to use it in a routine. I have a routine (Bedtime) that shuts off all the downstairs lights at night and turns on the upstairs bathroom and bedroom lights. I'd like to be able to have the same routine also shut down the TV system but can't figure out how to do it.

Any suggestions would be appreciated, if possible be very explicit I am 75 YO and don't understand a lot of this new technology.

Add a step in your existing routing that turns off your harmony hub. You'll find your hub under Control device (the icon looks like a house with a wifi signal inside).

I’m interested in getting the harmony hub just for this purpose.  I also want to have a routine turn the TV on, so I can say “Alexa I’m home” and certain lights go on along with the tv.  Is this possible?

Maybe you'll have better luck then I did, after spending hours trying to get it to work I gave up.

Chuck43,

I do this all the time.   I have a routine called "Bedtime"  It:

Turns on my lights
Turns off the TV     <--- this is where I am going to help you
Sets my Alexa volume
Reports the weather
Reports my agenda for tomorrow
and then says Good Night to me.

To "Turn off the TV" do the following:

From Edit Routine:
"Add Action"
"Smart Home"
"Control Scene"
"TV"
"Select Off"

That's it!  enjoy.
