echo dot uses/pings wifi continuously

howdy folks! thanks for being here.

I have an Echo Dot that is constantly using or pinging the wifi router in the house. The Wifi light flashes constantly day and night whenever the Echo is plugged in.

Steps taken to troubleshoot the issue:

1. Reset Echo Dot to default settings & setup new user.
1A. No skills were added nor streaming type commands were given to the Dot after reset.
2. Confirm Router is not being used by another device via the router interface.
3. In addition to (2) above, change wifi password - only the Echo dot had it.
4. Reset Router.

The router is provided by Comcast Xfinity. It is a Touchstone model and operates in 2.4Ghz mode and is made by Arris.

Questions:

Is there a solution to this problem?
Has anyone else suffered the issue?
Is this something Amazon developers are aware of?

Searches of this forum revealed no results.

Thank you for your consideration.

I do not think there is an issue.  My router shows a constant run of data spurts passing through it all day long because I have 8 Dots, an Echo and two Google Homes, PLUS other gadgets that periodically check with their mother ship for any updates, etc.  These things are not dormant for long.  I also have Comcast, and my dual-band network works great.  Relax and find other things to worry about, really.
