Echo standalone?
« on: January 15, 2018, 08:10:08 am »
Hi, I have attempted to find this answer to no avail so apologies if already asked. I am looking to setting up an Echo 2nd generation for my Dad who is visually impaired. My question is, once I have set this up using my iPhone can he continue using it when I am not around as he does not have access to the internet apart from the Echo being connected to his wi fi connection to the internet? Thanks for reading!

I don't see why not, at least for most things. If you want to use skills like the shopping list without access to the 'written' shopping list things might get complicated, stuff like that.

If you do the initial setup and handle any additional changes/new skills/new smart things etc, he should get plenty of use out of a dot for sure.

It's kinda like the dot I set up for my mother, my father can access the alexa webpage but he doesn't need to I can do most things remotely.
