Second echo won’t recognize smarthome devices

We have an Echo that controls a number of smarthome devices, some directly and some through a Wink hub- wall switches, lamps, front door lock, sonos speakers, etc. We just added an Echo dot to the mix. It is connected to the same network, and shows up on the Alexa app. But when I ask it to turn on a device, it says, “sorry, I didn't find living room light” (or whatever device I asked for). Am I doing something wrong?

No, you are doing everything right. The new Dot should sync up the Echo and obtain all the devices.
