No more YouTube on Echo Show
« on: September 27, 2017, 08:50:03 am »
According to The Verge --- https://www.theverge.com/2017/9/26/16371292/google-youtube-amazon-echo-show

Amazon and Google are in a not-so-fun fight. Google has apparently decided to stop allowing the Amazon Echo Show to access YouTube. If you ask the smart speaker to show you a YouTube video, it fails and Alexa just say this: “Currently, Google is not supporting Youtube on Echo Show.”

Old thread... but I did find a way to view youtube on one of my Amazon Devices... but it's a Fire 10 HD tablet. Of course you have to side load Google Play Store to do it but it can be done. Just thought I'd toss this out there, as Amazon and Google are at it and the Youtube that came on the tablet disappeared already, so I had to manage it myself. Also launches by Alexa hands free on the tablet. so I bet you can figure a way to put it on a SHOW as well... just my best guess.

Now if I can figure out how to get Youtube on my echo dots.... LOL

Welp. I bit the bullet and got myself a fire hd 10. But only coz my husband insisted on getting me something. He wanted to buy me a galaxy tab but I honestly am happy with my 2 old cheap tablet. Only 1 I regularly use. But I remember the fire hd now has an echo show mode and it's way cheaper than Samsung so I told him, I prefer to have that.

So far so good. He did tell me there's no google play and I said oh I can put that. Then I search for my game in amazon app store and I can have it for free so I decided not to install google play services on my fire tablet.

And the reason why I  woke this old thread is I actually just downloaded youtube app for free on amazon store. So, well I guess fire tablet is way better than the real echo show. LOL. Even if I don't have youtube app Alexa opens the youtube website when I want it to play youtube videos.

I also use alexa like I use cortana and open my apps via voice. I am still playing  with it, one thing I want is for it to wake me up with a music video but alas, it is not supported. Even the wake me up to music function is a hit or miss. Ugh.
