UK user - would a standard US to UK adapter be safe? Step down converter needed?

Hi all,

I am awaiting my newly purchased Amazon Echo to use in the UK. As it will be permanently plugged in, I am wonder if a 'cheap' simple UK/USA plug adapter would be safe to use?

Or would it be safer to use a step down UK 240Vac to US 110Vac converter?

If I need a step-down converter does anyone know how many Watts the Echo draws, or could suggest a suitable unit?

A standard US to UK adapter works well - as the Amazon Echo is multi voltage. (100-240v)
