Echo won't play messages
« on: August 30, 2017, 02:24:00 am »
I am at my wit's end. I have enabled messaging and calling on my devices, but when the light flashes to indicate a new message and I ask Alexa to play them, she responds with "To send messages, first register in your Alexa app".

I HAVE registered in the Alexa app and allowed Alexa to access my contacts. Yet I still get this reply from her. I can see a message in the app, but they will not play on my devices. When I touch the conversation icon in the app, it shows contacts and a welcome message from amazon that says I can now send and receive messages and calls, but my Echo doesn't seem to recognize that I have registered. I thought about trying to unregister and reregister, but I don't see anywhere I can try to do that.

Is there some trick to registering that I am missing?  Help!

I think the magic word is 'notification', right? Also alexa server is lagging as far as I know currently so maybe also that.
