getting connected

Well folks this is my first post and I think its a doozy!! i purchased an Amazon Echo Dot from the uk to take back with me to my home in Turkey, ( can you see the problem? ) it will not allow me to download the app as I am abroad, somebody has advised me to get the app downloaded in the UK by a mate as they are coming over on holiday and then using a VPN get it downloaded, is there anybody out there who can help with this?

It is doubtful that will work ( didn't for me) as the app looks at the phones location during a install attempt.
Use a PC and setup a amazon echo account http://alexa.amazon.com.
This won't allow you to use the app on your phone but you'll be able to use it on you PC.
