Connected to wifi but app says offline, please help

Hi, im not sure if this question has already been asked but I cant seem to find the answers im looking for....it would appear my echo dot is connected (it will tell me the weather and answer general questions and will switch between radio stations on tunein via voice command) but the alexa app says my dot is offline? If I try to select a radio station manually on tunein via the app it says im offline. Offline when trying to search for other devices, home page is blank and app will not show commands history - im assuming because im 'offline'??
May be a simple solution/silly question but im not greatly technically minded. Can someone please tell me how to get my dot showing in the app as online? Any help would be great, thanks

Turn the app completely off and unplug the Dot for a few minutes.  Plug it back in and turn the app back on.  This ought to clear things up if Dot is actually connected to the network.  It will tell you if it isn't.

Hi Al2Teach, Ninninoo, anyone else

Was this something you guys where able to resolve as I have the exact same problem, the Echo Dot for sure is connected to Wifi. If I ask if it is connected it says yes, I am connected to the internet but it shows offline in my app and doens't find a single smart home device.

Only found this by accident when you app on your phone says that your echo device is offline and not connected,I found if you go to the app and click on music and books at the top of the page under the title it will say the the name + alexa app click on it and you will be given a choice of the app or the echo or this device pick the echo and the problem with the app should be solved.
