Use dot as alarm clock upstairs
« on: December 19, 2016, 10:08:36 am »
Our 2 oldest daughters sleep in a bedroom upstairs. We'd like to set a morning wake up alarm on our echo dot downstairs and have a speaker upstairs, so they will hear it too, but I'm assuming a normal bluetooth speaker won't reach that far. Any idea on a good way to do this?

For the amount of money and time you'd spend figuring this out, I'd just get another Dot if it were me.

You might be surprised how far bluetooth will reach.

Alternatively, for a little more expense, you could have a your Dot connected to a Sonos speaker, with another Sonos speaker in your daughters' room, and set them for multi-room playing.

This. The Dot is only forty bucks; I now have five in my home, two of which are in bedrooms. That way, Echo bedroom has its own Echo alarm clock. As well as getting all r=the other functionality, which you don't get if you go Bluetooth.
