Title: 2 Hue lights on one switch
Post by: victorytea on January 04, 2017, 03:34:10 pm
I installed the hue bridge and put one light bulb in the dining room. This switch had room for 2 more hue bulbs, so I added one more bulb. The initial bulb that I put in was the only one working when I commanded turn hue light on- what do i need to do to get them both lighting when I give the command?  Paul

Your description is confusing and a bit vague.  What do you mean by a "switch" having room for 2 more bulbs?  And did you tell Alexa to "discover devices" after installing the extra bulbs?  What did you name the extra bulbs on your Hue bridge?  Did you put them in a group?  What exact command are you giving Alexa?

each bulb will have its own name.  if you want to use them both at the same time, you can setup a group in either alexa or hue app.

victorytea,

I have a similar setup. I have a 2 bulb lamp on a switch that I wanted to control. Each bulb needs its own name. I call them Left Light and Right Light on the Hue app. In the Alexa app, I have each bulb and I set a group where I named the lamp itself Window (its a lamp by a window). The Window group includes both bulbs. I can now tell Alexa to turn the Window on or off, Window at 75% etc. If I want to control each bulb, I say Alexa Left Light off or Right Light 50%.

I have an additional group called Floor which is the 2 bulbs and a switch running another lamp. I can now turn off 5 total bulbs with one command Alexa turn off Floor.
