Echo to LG smart TV

LG smart TVs run webOS 3.o. This enables web apps to run on them. What would I need the web app to do so that Alexa could talk to it? The LG smart bridge is useless in this regard (it only does 'smartthings') Currently, I have to interpose Harmony and it does not work so well.

There's nothing the web app itself can do to specifically allow Alexa to communicate with it.  However, if the web app provides some way to interact with it programmatically then you could accomplish your goal by doing one of the following:

  • Convince Amazon to add integrated support for either the web app or the bridge (assuming accessing the bridge will give you what you want).
  • Develop an Alexa "Smart Home Skill" that does what you want (or convince someone else to do it for you).
  • Figure out how to leverage whatever SmartThings integration with the LG bridge exists.
