Anyone else having trouble getting Alexa to recognise an instruction with 'seven' in it? Every time I've asked for a seven minute timer, I've got a one minute timer but I think I know why. It's not about enunciation, it's about pronunciation. When Americans say words ending in 'en', like seven and open, they tend to pronounce the 'e' as in 'opEn', but when we Brits use those words, we obliterate the 'e' so it becomes 'op'n' or even 'opun' - hence getting a one minute timer instead of seven. Since I adopted the Len Goodman approach - 'SevEN' - I've had no problems.
You're welcome.

How good are you with accents?  If Hugh Laurie can so convincingly sound American...

If they paid me that much, I'd give it a ruddy good try!
