Dot and Philips Hue Lights
« on: May 26, 2017, 01:27:38 pm »
My Echo always does this weird thing where we have it hooked up to Philips Hue lights and almost every time we ask it to turn of the lights, it thinks for 5 seconds, then says "hmmmmm, Phillips Hue isn't responding", but then it turns off the lights anyway.

It's a funny quirk - does this happen to anyone else?

Yes... It used to happen for the first month or so of use... when we installed (3 bulbs of the cheap white kind) we had similar issues, and some other oddities, that over time have worked themselves out. Seems the more we use the Alexa to operate the Bulbs, the more accurate it is.

Nut STILL... on occasion, the Dot says "okay" and nothing happens at all... Suspect it thinks it has done the job, but for some reason the bulbs are still on when they should be off... The protocol actually communicates the status of the bulb when it's working right, before it does any adjusting. So if it's actually "off", the Bridge and Alexa know what options they have from that point... including what level of dimming or whatever... Love my Bulbs.
