FYI

Bad news of this weekend.
Take care of this issue ASAP, whether you have a new or old Windows PC.  It's all in this (and many other articles).

microsoft even issued a patch for xp on this.  very unusual.  however, I think the worse is over.   a kill switch was found.

one thing for sure, I am sure glad I run linux  :-)  don't have to worry about this.

This morning, researchers announced they had found a kill switch in the code of the ransomware program ó a single domain which, when registered, would prevent any infections from taking place. Itís still unclear whether registering that domain will stop every strain of the infection, but it should severely limit the global spread of the attack.

Yea, my win 7 and 10 previously patched as I have recent win updates.  Articles say the kill switch may be temporary, since all that needs to be done is set up another domain. (It's likely done already!)

When I get a "round tuit" I will turn on my old XP and patch it.
